Today
is the 12th day of Christmas, which means it is the last day of our Christmas celebration this season. But, the work of Christmas continues. It
is the work of Jesus. It is the work of his disciples. Here is a quote from
Howard Thurman (1899-1981) who was an African-American author, philosopher,
theologian, educator, and civil rights leader:
When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people,
to make music in the heart.
